SUMMARY:Farm Fridays
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the rich heritage of pioneer crafts!\n \nGibbs Farm Fridays: A Pioneer Woman’s Craft Heritage\nFriday July 15\, 2016: Basket Weaving \nOther Programs: July 22\, August 5\, August 19\, 2016\n10:00 am-Noon\nOpen to all\nAdmission: $8 adults\, $7 seniors 62+\, $5 children ages 4-16. Free for RCHS members.\nJoin us this summer as we celebrate “A Pioneer Woman” at Gibbs Farm with two new programs series\, “Farm Fridays: A Pioneer Woman’s Craft Heritage” and “Sunday Series: A Pioneer Woman’s Kitchen.” \nThousands upon thousands of pioneer women flooded into Minnesota during the territorial and early statehood years. Many of these women left behind family and friends to move halfway across America\, or even half way across the world\, to settle into their new homes. \nAlong with their husbands\, they established schools and churches\, raised families and contributed to the heritage of our state. Join us this summer as we celebrate “A Pioneer Woman” at Gibbs Farm. \nIn the mid-1800s\, pioneer women made many of the household objects used in their day-to-day lives. A wave of new inventions during this era meant more free time for farm women; as they created objects used in daily life\, they mixed function and form to create a folk art heritage. \nEach topic will include a brief history and hands-on activity to take home.\nPrograms are open to all.\nFree parking in our Gibbs Farm lot.\n Note: Please schedule groups of more than 10 guests two weeks in advance. \nProgram Schedule\nPrograms are led by costumed Gibbs Museum interpretive staff.
