DESCRIPTION:Take a dash of Secret Garden\, add a sprinkle of Jules Verne\, stir in a candy mixture and what do you get? \nThe Steampunk Trick-or-Treat Trail at Gibbs Farm\, Saturday\, October 28th\, 2023. Timed entry from 12pm-6pm. \nVisit the twisting stacks of books at the library\, match wits with a traveling magician\, craft potions with an apothecary\, and decide whether or not to throw your lot in with some mischievous sky pirates. \nThe start of the trail is timed\, approximately 45 minutes long\, and ends at the exit of the site.  Prior registration for an entry timeslot is required. Please expect to wait a few minutes after arriving to begin the trail.  As always\, the Trick-or-Treat Trail is family friendly and intended for all ages! \nLight of the Moon will be playing music at the entrance/exit from 1pm-5pm. \nRainbow Party Arts will be providing face painting at the entrance/exit from 12pm-5pm. \nRegistration is required. DESCRIPTION:  \nGibbs Farm Apple Festival is back this year on September 30th from 10-2\, this all ages fall celebration has something for the whole family! \nVisitors can tour the orchard\, learn apple facts\, try their hand at cider pressing and sample apples not often seen in the grocery store or farmer’s market. Our Heritage Orchard has about 30 types of apples including heirloom and UofM developed varieties. We will have several “apple tasting flights” to help you experience these special fruits! \nSeveral of our partners will be helping us take advantage of the season: \nMusic by Light of the Moon\, \nFace Painting with Barbara from Rainbow Party Arts\, \nNative Seed Cleaning with MN Seed\, \nWoodblock Prints with Peggy Stern \nDakota language books will be for sale by Dakhóta Iápi Okhódakičhiye including books illustrated and translated by Katie Bendickson. \nSolar observing with our neighbors at the Bell Museum \nPatricia Bauer and Dave Geister will share their newest book Making Minnesota and lead a seed art activity. \nPlus Apple Treats and other activities including: Historic Farmhouse Tours\, pioneer play kitchen\, apple games\, seed art and a prairie scavenger hunt. \nFeel free to bring your own snack or lunch to enjoy. DESCRIPTION:Join a 45-minute walking tour through the Gibbs Farm site lead by Master Naturalists Cathy Croghan and Kathy Robbins. The tour tallest trees (Burr Oak\, Black Walnut) and some of our newer additions (Tamarack and American Hazelnut)! Learn how these Minnesota trees were used for food\, medicine and shelter by the Dakota and settlers. \nGibbs Farm is open to the public on Fridays from 12-3 and Saturdays from 10-4 this summer. The Tree Tour is included in regular Saturday admission price. \nAs always RCHS\, members visit Gibbs Farm at no cost. \nTo reserve your tour spot\, pre-pay admission online\, or by calling the Gibbs Farm Office at 651-646-8629. DESCRIPTION:Help us gather and preserve some of the late summer bounty of herbs and flowers. We will pick\, wash and bundle herbs from the Gardens at Gibbs. We will also press some flowers for use in crafts and dyes this winter.  Try your hand at a couple different preservation methods\, and take home a couple bundles of herbs to dry or use fresh. Children under 12 should sign up with an adult. \n  \nNo experience necessary! Projects will be lead by Gibbs Farm staff and volunteers and all supplies materials and instructions. \n  \nDay of Instructions: \n  \nVolunteers should park in the Gibbs Farm public parking lot of Cleveland Ave and enter the site through the wooden gates. \nPlease wear close-toed shoes and clothes you can work in. Light snacks are provided\, but feel free to bring your own. \nThere are bathrooms and a drinking fountain with water bottle filler on site.

Projects will be lead by Gibbs Farm staff and volunteers and all supplies materials and instructions. \nGibbs Farm will be open to the public after this event\, volunteers are encouraged to stay\, take a tour or visit with the animals at no admission charge. \nDay of Instructions: \n  \nVolunteers should park in the Gibbs Farm public parking lot of Cleveland Ave and enter the site through the wooden gates. \nPlease wear close-toed shoes and clothes you can work in. Light snacks are provided\, but feel free to bring your own. \nThere are bathrooms and a drinking fountain with water bottle filler on site.

Take a guided tour\, visit the farm animals or snap some pictures in the prairie. \nGuided tours are offered on the hour. \nAdmission is $10 for adults\, $7 for seniors\, $5 for children 4-16\, free for children 3 and under. RCHS Members visit Gibbs Farm for free! \nCredit & debit card purchases preferred. Gibbs Farm is located at 2097 Larpenteur Ave W\, Falcon Heights\, MN 55113.  Parking is free in our lot off Cleveland Avenue. Enter Gibbs Farm through the small white building just south of the parking lot. \n
