Children under 12 should sign up with an adult. \nNo experience necessary! Projects will be lead by Gibbs Farm staff and all supplies\, materials and instructions are provided. \nHave a question or need to cancel your registration? Set against the rustic beauty of Gibbs Farm\, this special evening celebrates the harvest with a thoughtfully crafted three-course dinner by Chef Weston Smith and Chef Catherine Olsen—each course inspired by and sourced directly from local gardens. \nBegin the night in the courtyard with a relaxed happy hour featuring complimentary wine and beer\, accompanied by live music from Chris Koza. As the sun lingers a little longer and the gardens glow with late-summer abundance\, you’ll enjoy an experience that brings together history\, community\, and the flavors of the farm in perfect harmony. \nLocal Effort\nBased in Roseville\, Local Effort is led by chef team Weston Smith and Catherine Olsen. They cook for small events with a special focus on locally grown and produced ingredients\, especially from Minnesota or Wisconsin. \nWeston makes beautiful sourdough breads\, pizza\, bean-to-bar chocolate\, and memorable meats like duck mortadella. He’s especially interested in nutrition and well sourced ingredients in home cooking. Catherine is a Minneapolis native and a local restaurant veteran. She makes fresh handmade pastas and beautiful cakes and pastry\, and has a gift for thoughtful\, sincere hospitality. Local Effort makes American food with midwestern ingredients\, combining restaurant techniques with a home cook’s sensibility. \nChris Koza\nChris Koza is a composer and performer based in Denver\, Colorado and Minneapolis\, Minnesota. Both solo and with his band Rogue Valley\, he has supported and shared the stage with artists such as Brandi Carlile\, Gordon Lightfoot\, Ingrid Michaelson\, The Jayhawks\, Neko Case\, Kathleen Edwards\, Dan Wilson\, and Stephen Kellogg\, among others. His music appears regularly on ABC’s General Hospital\, 60 Minutes\, and Good Morning America\, and his song\, “Be Wild\,” was featured in a State of Minnesota tourism campaign. His song (Rogue Valley)\, “The Wolves and the Ravens\,” was featured in Ben Stiller’s film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Chris often performs solo with an acoustic guitar but also performs as a duo\, trio\, and 4-or-5 piece band. \nIn his writing\, Chris both honors and builds on the vast genre of Americana music. For every song that sounds like it could be strummed from a boxcar clacking slowly across a grassy midwestern plain\, there’s a tune sailing from a city rooftop\, echoing across a valley of streets and traffic\, or a melody twisting and shimmering like a dim frequency deep into the starry night. \nMenu\n \n\n

Led by historian Mark Taylor\, you’ll explore the streets that shaped Fitzgerald’s early life\, from his childhood homes to the places that inspired his iconic stories. Along the way\, uncover the ambition\, romance\, and contradictions that defined a literary legend. Perfect for book lovers and history enthusiasts alike\, this tour brings the Jazz Age vividly to life in the city Fitzgerald never forgot—experience hidden details\, rare anecdotes\, and surprising connections that reveal a deeper understanding of his enduring legacy today and beyond for generations ahead. \nMark Taylor is a scholar of F. Scott Fitzgerald historical interpreter for the James J. Hill House. In addition to his well-loved Fitzgerald tours for the MN Historical Society and others\, he spoke at the International F. Scott Fitzgerald Society’s 16th international conference in Växjö\, Sweden in 2023. \nMark’s educational background is in teaching. He received his teaching degree and license from Hamline University and taught Social Studies at Mounds Park Academy and the Hill-Murray School. Mark also has his B.A. in Political Science from Knox University. \nMark served as co-chair of the first Bad Luck Ball last year and is continuing in that role this year. He and wife Pondie have two active little Saint Paul park users – Miles and Vivian. Their dog Penny Lane won the Conservancy’s first #StPaulBarks contest in 2021.

Volunteer at Gibbs Farm on select Friday Mornings and Tuesday Evenings during the 2026 season. The outdoor projects change weekly usually planting\, watering\, weeding\, harvesting\, light landscape and orchard projects. \nRegister Here \nProjects are best for ages 6+ and are great for students\, families\, small groups (workplace teams\, clubs\, scouts\, 4-H ect.) and individuals. Children under 12 should sign up with an adult. \nNo experience necessary! Projects will be lead by Gibbs Farm staff and all supplies\, materials and instructions are provided. \nHave a question or need to cancel your registration? Email Clare @ RCHS.com. \nDay of Instructions: \nVolunteers should park in the Gibbs Farm public parking lot of Cleveland Ave and enter the site through the wooden gates\, Clare will meet you there!\nPlease wear close-toed shoes and clothes you can work in.\nThere are bathrooms and a drinking fountain with water bottle filler on site.
