Raised on a farm in Iowa\, Bob Dahm was born with the family’s green thumb. Years of witnessing the effect of pesticides on his community’s health led Bob to his life’s passion: organic agriculture. In the 80s\, Bob oversaw the shift to organic gardening methods for a playground at a local children’s hospital. \nHosted by Gibbs Farm’s very own Clare Holte\, guests will enjoy a conversation on organic gardening methods and history\, followed by a walking Q&A session around the farmstead.

Visit the farm animals\, take a stroll around the restored prairie\, and listen to live music from Light of the Moon! \nGibbs Farm is located at 2097 Larpenteur Ave W\, Falcon Heights\, MN 55113. Parking is free in our lot off Cleveland Avenue. Enter Gibbs Farm through the small white building just south of the parking lot. \nAdmission is $10 for adults\, $7 for seniors\, $5 for children 4-16\, free for children 3 and under. \nRCHS Members visit Gibbs Farm for free! Cash or credit is accepted.

DESCRIPTION:Spring Homeschool Day at Gibbs Farm!\nFriday\, June 12th\, 2026\n11:00am – 3:00pm\nRegister \nA day of programs just for homeschool students and their educators! Visit the Gibbs Farm historic site and learn about the seasonal life of the Dakota of Cloud Man’s village and the early Minnesota farm life of Jane & Heman Gibbs. On going activities include visiting the historic farmhouse\, replica bark lodge\, and a tipi. One-room schoolhouse lessons will take place several times throughout the day. \nThe gift shop will also be open specially for this day! \nPlease note that parents must accompany their children at all times while on the historic site. Picnic tables will be available for picnic lunches (please note that there is no food for sale on site). \n$8 per student 3 and older \n$5 per adult \nChildren 2 and under are free of charge \nPre-register or pay on the day of the event. Last Entry is at 2pm. \nRefunds are available up to one week prior to the event. Set against the rustic beauty of Gibbs Farm\, this special evening celebrates the harvest with a thoughtfully crafted three-course dinner by Chef Weston Smith and Chef Catherine Olsen—each course inspired by and sourced directly from local gardens. \nBegin the night in the courtyard with a relaxed happy hour featuring complimentary wine and beer\, accompanied by live music from Chris Koza. As the sun lingers a little longer and the gardens glow with late-summer abundance\, you’ll enjoy an experience that brings together history\, community\, and the flavors of the farm in perfect harmony. \nLocal Effort\nBased in Roseville\, Local Effort is led by chef team Weston Smith and Catherine Olsen. They cook for small events with a special focus on locally grown and produced ingredients\, especially from Minnesota or Wisconsin. \nWeston makes beautiful sourdough breads\, pizza\, bean-to-bar chocolate\, and memorable meats like duck mortadella. He’s especially interested in nutrition and well sourced ingredients in home cooking. Catherine is a Minneapolis native and a local restaurant veteran. She makes fresh handmade pastas and beautiful cakes and pastry\, and has a gift for thoughtful\, sincere hospitality. Local Effort makes American food with midwestern ingredients\, combining restaurant techniques with a home cook’s sensibility. \nChris Koza\nChris Koza is a composer and performer based in Denver\, Colorado and Minneapolis\, Minnesota. Both solo and with his band Rogue Valley\, he has supported and shared the stage with artists such as Brandi Carlile\, Gordon Lightfoot\, Ingrid Michaelson\, The Jayhawks\, Neko Case\, Kathleen Edwards\, Dan Wilson\, and Stephen Kellogg\, among others. His music appears regularly on ABC’s General Hospital\, 60 Minutes\, and Good Morning America\, and his song\, “Be Wild\,” was featured in a State of Minnesota tourism campaign. His song (Rogue Valley)\, “The Wolves and the Ravens\,” was featured in Ben Stiller’s film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Chris often performs solo with an acoustic guitar but also performs as a duo\, trio\, and 4-or-5 piece band. \nIn his writing\, Chris both honors and builds on the vast genre of Americana music. For every song that sounds like it could be strummed from a boxcar clacking slowly across a grassy midwestern plain\, there’s a tune sailing from a city rooftop\, echoing across a valley of streets and traffic\, or a melody twisting and shimmering like a dim frequency deep into the starry night.

Perfect for book lovers and history enthusiasts alike\, this tour brings the Jazz Age vividly to life in the city Fitzgerald never forgot—experience hidden details\, rare anecdotes\, and surprising connections that reveal a deeper understanding of his enduring legacy today and beyond for generations ahead. \nMark Taylor is a scholar of F. Scott Fitzgerald historical interpreter for the James J. Hill House. In addition to his well-loved Fitzgerald tours for the MN Historical Society and others\, he spoke at the International F. Scott Fitzgerald Society’s 16th international conference in Växjö\, Sweden in 2023. \nMark’s educational background is in teaching. He received his teaching degree and license from Hamline University and taught Social Studies at Mounds Park Academy and the Hill-Murray School. Mark also has his B.A. in Political Science from Knox University. \nMark served as co-chair of the first Bad Luck Ball last year and is continuing in that role this year. He and wife Pondie have two active little Saint Paul park users – Miles and Vivian. Their dog Penny Lane won the Conservancy’s first #StPaulBarks contest in 2021.

The tours will each focus on a different area of the cemetery\, with October 14 covering the North End and October 21 covering the South End. \nMore info on South Tour on October 21\, 2026. \nJoin experienced tour guide and historian Denise Dunnell Wells on a fascinating outdoor walking tour of Saint Paul’s famous Oakland Cemetery. The tour will feature the resting places of some of Saint Paul’s most famous and infamous personalities. Denise will give you an overview of the cemetery’s history\, discuss some of its legends\, and show us the final resting places of these citizens. \nNORTH TOUR 10/14/2026:\n\nTour is outside only – please wear walking shoes and dress for the weather.\nThere are some hills on the tour and prepare to be on your feet for up to two hours.\nThere are no restrooms in the cemetery.\nOakland Cemetery is located at 927 Jackson Street\, Saint Paul.\nPlease do not park in the parking lot or in front of the office.  It is fine to park along the roads in the cemetery\, just make sure that traffic can get by.\nWe will meet outside of the office.\n\nAbout Oakland Cemetery: \nOakland Cemetery is the Midwest’s oldest operating cemetery and has been a place of internment for many different groups in the Ramsey County community. There are lots for Civil War and Spanish-American War veterans\, firefighters\, and a variety of nationalities. The cemetery has a park-like quality with over 25\,000 trees and many walking paths. In its current era\, the cemetery has become a final resting area for many members of the Hmong community\, which has put our current landscape in conversation with the pioneers who made this area what it is.
