SUMMARY:Sunday Series
DESCRIPTION:Join us this summer as we celebrate “A Pioneer Woman” at Gibbs Farm with two special program series\, “Sunday Series: A Pioneer Woman’s Kitchen” and “Farm Fridays: A Pioneer Woman’s Craft Heritage.” \nGibbs Farm Sunday Series: A Pioneer Woman’s Kitchen\nSunday\, July 10: Brining Pickles\nOther Programs: July 17\, July 24\, July 31\n1:00-2:30 pm\nOpen to all\nAdmission: $8 adults\, $7 seniors 62+\, $5 children ages 4-16. Free for RCHS members.\nThe Gibbs Farm is open to the public Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am-4:00 pm\, Memorial Day weekend through the end of October.\nThousands upon thousands of pioneer women flooded into Minnesota during the territorial and early statehood years. Many of these women left behind family and friends to move halfway across America\, or even half way across the world\, to settle into their new homes. \nAlong with their husbands\, they established schools and churches\, raised families and contributed to the heritage of our state. \nA pioneer woman’s kitchen was considered the heart of the home. It was in this realm that women created family recipes and specialties that remain a part of our Minnesota heritage today. \nEach topic will include a history and a hands-on activity to take home. \nPrograms are open to all. \nFree parking in our Gibbs Farm lot. \nNote: Please schedule groups of more than 10 guests two weeks in advance. \nProgram Schedule\nPrograms are led by costumed Gibbs Farm interpretive staff. SUMMARY:HIV/AIDS Oral History Project
DESCRIPTION:Help RCHS Save Lives:\nThe HIV/AIDS Oral History Project\nRCHS is collecting oral histories to save lives. We are documenting the appalling gap between identifying HIV/AIDS as a health crisis and the full-scale response required to develop effective treatments\, a delay that allowed the deaths of thousands. A total of 35 oral histories are being recorded and the results are being provided to lawmakers across the country to encourage faster responses to current and future medical crisis. The project recently received a matching $10\,000 challenge grant from the Jay & Rose Phillips Family Foundation of Minnesota. \nYou can help – learn more here!
