Rose Hanna was born Wardeh Awwad in Jifna, Palestine. Soon after her marriage, in 1948, she became a Palestinian refugee. In 1956 she and her family landed in St. Paul. Seven years later she was a widow with four young children to support. It is the immigrants’ tale, this time with a 20th century, Middle Eastern flavor, and charmingly written.
