The St. Paul Camera Club Celebrates Its 125th Anniversary
Author: Bob Muschewske

The growth and popularity of photography in the late nineteenth century led to the founding of the St. Paul Camera Club (SPCC) in 1893. Over the years, the number of members of the SPCC has varied, but it is still going strong today and is considered the oldest camera club in Minnesota and the fourth oldest in the United States. Initially, membership was open to amateurs and professionals, both men and women, and dues were modest. The typical activities of the SPCC today involve salons, educational programs, outings, exhibits, and external competitions. Amateurs make up its current membership, but the goal of the men and women of the SPCC has remained the same: to provide a venue for individuals who are passionate about photography to learn more and to make great photos.
