The author lived at 710 Linwood, deep in Crocus Hill, from 1918 (when he was seven) to 1958. This memoir covers the first eleven years. He recalls riding the streetcars everywhere, including the great amusement park, Wildwood; the omnipresent dray horses and their deliveries, the chimney sweep, sledding on the unpaved streets, the famous families of his acquaintance, the now-lost downtown stores and city businesses, and the schooling he got at St. Paul Academy.
