Archival Collections

This is a collection of Facebook posts by Maureen Smith of Roseville, Minnesota beginning during the COVID-19 Pandemic spanning from March 2020 through June 2021.

Material consists of record books related to the Cyril Congregational Church from 1881-1938. Also referred to as Cyril Bohemian Congregational Church, Cyril Czechoslovak Congregational Church, and Cyril Czech Congregational Church. This collection consists of records and attendance reports for Sunday school students.

This collection consists of photographs, correspondence; financial records including state (1933-1952) and federal (1931-1949) tax returns; school, household, dental, and work materials and receipts, including Junior Pioneer membership and St. Paul Foundry related to Vital Guerin (1812-1870) and Adele Perry Guerin (1827-1914), early St. Paul residents. There are funeral cards for: Frank Geis (1839-1922), Reverend Leopold Haas (1862-1935), plus a letter disbanding the “Hill Rover Base Ball Club” (1910).  Three photocopied newspaper obituary records for Vital* and Adele Guerin (1910-1914).  The collection also includes correspondence, tickets, receipts, and itineraries pertaining to George Guerin’s trip to the East Coast to research manufacturing practices for the St. Paul Foundry and Manufacturing Company.

Letters written by their descendants, primarily George (1863-1952). One letter dated 1881 from 16-year-old Jessie Sexton to George mentions her decision to receive the smallpox vaccine. Letters of particular interest include correspondence from George’s daughters, Adele and Alice, detailing a trip to the West Coast and letters written to and by Adele Guerin regarding her participation in the Pillsbury Bake-Off contest in 1950.

This collection consists of two minute books, three check registers, two stock certificate books, Articles of Incorporation (renewal), contracts, and a city ordinance. The collection contains correspondence with stockholders and the corporate tax returns. Also part of the collection is an embossing stamp and an oversized photograph of ADT president Harold Shugard.

Material consists of minute books, annual reports, membership directories, convention programs, news clippings, photographs, and scrapbooks.

Material includes business-related correspondence, publications, advertisements, photographs of employees, equipment, and work done and in progress. Mechanical drawings and some hourly employee biographies included. Photographs encompass the changes within the company and the products it produced. Top-level employee photos and correspondence are included.

The collection includes 307 books about historic preservation and renovation, style, ornamentation, lighting, and building contractor business management, as well as historic and modern catalogs for architectural and style-specific features. Also included are HVAC, plumbing, lumber and woodwork catalogs. Additionally, the collection contains a series of 13 serials, including Period Homes, The House Beautiful, Traditional Building (Clem Labine), Journal of Light Construction, Victorian Homes, Tools of the Trade, Fine Homebuilding, Old House Interiors, Old House Journal, House and Garden, American Bungalow, Arts and Crafts Homes, and Style 1900.

This collection was created by Mary Thoemke who worked at the school beginning in 1996 until she retired in 2007.  All the items are materials she collected during her tenure. A scrapbook chronicles the creation of Arlington High School, easing student population and overcrowding, and includes designs and photos by Winsor/Faricy in 1996; location details and preparation, community needs.  Five folders detail the school proposal (1994), school overview and fact sheets (1995-1996), a color photocopy of a SOAR (Students Achieving Academic Excellence) scrapbook (1996-1999) of rosters and photos of participants, and a “Schools Making Progress” newsletter (2001)

Materials include bylaws and annual reports, 1972-2012; membership directories, 1922-2008 (scattered), Sunday Bulletins, 1957-2010; and newsletters, 1962-2006 (scattered) comprise the first half of the collection. Records pertaining to the Women’s Missionary Society (minutes starting in 1923), foreign missions and missionaries, the Women’s Association of the Arlington Church, and the Twin Cities Women’s Presbyterian Association take up another several boxes. There is a chronologically arranged series of miscellaneous records pertaining to church history and Presbyterianism in general. Scattered documentation of baptisms, marriages, funerals, and memorial cards round out the collection.

Material consists of email correspondence, financial records, grant proposals and promotional literature detailing AAR’s main project, The Dragon Festival. Newspaper articles (photocopied) are also included in the collection. Other contents include promotional posters, t-shirts, and medals given out as awards for the Dragon Boat races.
