No Grass Beneath Her Feet: Harriet Bishop and Her Life in Minnesota

Harriet Bishop came to St. Paul in 1847 and died there in 1883. In that time she taught school, dealt in real estate, married and divorced, wrote books and poetry, and organized the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. She is by far the most remembered female early settler, and Harriet Island is named for her. This article tells her story.
