About the Parks & People coloring book
This beautifully illustrated, “grown-up” historical coloring book, featuring artwork by Jeanne Kosfeld and writing by Kathy Berdan, showcases 19 iconic Saint Paul parks. Readers of all ages can immerse themselves in the city’s rich history while adding their own splash of color to intricate pen-and-ink drawings. The book highlights hidden histories, environmental treasures, and the visionaries who shaped Saint Paul’s nationally acclaimed park system.
An astounding 99 percent of people who live in Saint Paul are within a 10-minute walk from a park – a space that’s open, green and free to visit.
Children can run, climb and play. They can see birds, bugs, squirrels, animal tracks in the snow. Families can gather. Someone can take a stroll (or a roll!) alone to reflect and recharge – be inspired. People can exercise, fish, and kayak. Anyone can get outdoors in a park. There are no language or culture barriers, no admission fees, no age, race or gender restrictions. Time in a park creates a deeper appreciation for the environment and the need to protect it.
