Selma 70 Opening Night and Panel Discussion
RCHS opens the Selma 70 exhibit with a panel discussion featuring pilgrims who attended the 50th anniversary of the Selma March in 2015
On April 24, 2025, RCHS hosted panelists Vanne Owens Hayes, Mary K. Boyd, and Otis Zanders as they shared their stories spanning the decades since the Civil Rights movement. They spoke on the original events of the Selma March and the impact being a part of the Selma 70 had on them and the change it sparked in their communities for History Revealed.
About the Selma 70 group and exhibit
The Selma 70 is a group pilgrims that traveled from Saint Paul to Selma, Alabama for the 50th Anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” in March of 2015. The pilgrimage followed a number of working and training sessions, and has been followed by more of the same. The exhibit gives context for the 1965 march, highlights the 50th anniversary, and shows how these events are in conversation with recent anti-racism demonstrations in the Twin Cities. The exhibit will be on display from April 2025 through May 2026 in the Ramsey County Historical Society Exhibit Gallery on the first floor of Landmark Center and is open and free to the public.
