Setting the Record Straight: The Scoop that Helped Save a St. Paul Landmark
Author: Linda Kohl

It is nearly impossible to walk past the majestic Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul for the first time without stopping in wonder to admire the turrets and towers of the multi-story structure that today houses cultural, arts, and history organizations. Once upon a time, this was the Federal Courts Building—home to ornate courtrooms, judges’ chambers, government offices, and a busy post office. The story of this architectural wonder is well known and has been documented in books, magazines, and blogs. However, a small part of that history connected to local newspaper reports from the late 1960s, when the building’s future was in possible jeopardy, is incorrect. Author Linda Kohl explains and provides a corrective history.
