RCHS Shares Local History at Juneteenth Observance

St. Paul’s Rondo Center of Diverse Expression has hosted a Juneteenth observance at Rondo Plaza for the last four years. Ramsey County Historical Society is always honored to be invited to this event that marks the day in 1865 when African Americans in Galveston, Texas, first learned of their freedom—three years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Each year, RCHS highlights local Black history by sharing Ramsey County History articles and highlighting the award-winning work of our authors. Writers Leetta Douglas, Jeremiah Ellis, Marion Jones Kennon, Nieeta Presley, and Frank White helped us give away over 125 magazines to guests, while sharing research and learning about Rondo neighborhood and family histories from others.
